Saturday's Scripture Story
A Woman Touches Jesus’ Robe
Luke 8:42b-48
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.
45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
Pondering Point
Hopefully this story has become familiar with you in your devotional time this week. There's a practice in some Christian circles of visualizing yourself as one of the characters in a biblical account. In this story, you would see yourself in the position of the woman, trying to touch the hem of Jesus’ robe. What would the desire of your heart be, the thing you wanted for Jesus to 'fix'? What would you say to Him after it happens?
Consider how you might experience this story on your own so you're not just learning about someone else's account, but seeing God build upon your own testimony about His work in your life.
Prayer
Father God, help us learn how to be close enough to experience Your blessing on our heart’s desire as we seek You first. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
