Wellspring of Joy
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
~ Jesus
Pondering Point
By God’s grace, I am HIS. That I might become HIS, God loved me (as part of the world) in this particular way: He gave His Son Jesus to us so that by, believing in Him, I could and would (and do) have life.
Of course this is true for whoever believes. Anyone can have this life, this non-perishable, eternal life: to know God (the Father) and His Son Jesus Christ, whom He sent.
Prayer
Father God, thank You for my non-perishable, eternal life in Jesus Christ my Lord. (John 17:4)
I am a believer and in Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.
Question: When you think of God “giving His Son” as John 3:16 describes, do you picture Jesus’ birth or His death?
Does your mind lean toward lyrics like a Christmas carol picture?
“Let all together praise our God before
His glorious throne; today He opens
heav’n again to give us His own Son…”
Or does your mind go to the Amazing Grace lyric, “and when I think that God His Son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in…”?
Is it both for you?
