Sunday One Another Commands
Honor One Another
Romans 12:10a
Be devoted to one another in love.
Honor one another above yourselves.
~ Apostle Paul
Pondering Point
This week we pick up the second half of the Romans 12:10 verse -- honor one another above yourselves. We do that particularly when we make sacrifices for others. Of course, to expect to be recognized for making such sacrifices makes it more about us and less about the sacrifice or the other person. So, if you don't get recognized for making your sacrifice, don't worry about it. God sees what’s been done even if nobody else acknowledges you.
Ponder these four questions with God now (and eventually a group of others):
- Who honored me above themselves this past week?
Thank God.
- Who did not show honor to me?
Forgive and pray for them.
- Whom did I fail to show honor?
Seek forgiveness.
- Whom did I honor above myself?
Praise God for faithfulness.
Prayer for the Day
Father God, while we make sacrifices for others, don't let us get sidetracked by wanting to be patted on the back for our efforts. Let it be enough to know that You see what we did – for You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Honor One Another Above Yourselves.
