Theme for the Week: I AM Jesus

Jesus is the name specifically given by angelic message to both Mary and Joseph on separate occasions. Each time that message came with an explanation of the name’s meaning being associated with God saving His people from their sins. Most of us did not get to choose our own name. But when God came into the flesh, born of a virgin, He didn't choose the name Bruce or Harold (no offense), but Jesus. He gave Himself the name ‘Jesus’ because He came to save – to save you and me and anybody else who would believe that He is the Messiah. By believing we have life in His name.

Prayer for the Week

Placeholder Picture

Lord Jesus, I love Your name because it carries so much meaning. In fact, it's Your name that carries us to our Father – that carries us to places we could never reach or know on our own, that carries us home to Father God. Of course, the name would mean nothing if the person behind it wasn't good for what’s been promised. I thank You that You’re good to Your Word and saved me from my sins. I join others celebrating You this week Jesus! Amen!

Micro-Meditation

Psalm 127:1-5

  1. Unless the LORD builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
  2. In vain you rise early and stay up late,
    toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves.
  3. Children are a heritage from the LORD,
    offspring a reward from him.
  4. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
  5. Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.

Read the versus two times.

Mark the words or phrases that catch your attention. Using a journal is recommended.

Meditate: Talk (better yet write) with God about those words. Ask Him to impress things upon your heart and mind; expect responses

Pondering Point

All of our work and efforts ultimately are of little use without the blessing of the God behind them. Sit and ponder your efforts and God’s place in them.

What is God’s place in my work and efforts?
