Prayerfully Re-Center Around God

Luke 22:31-32

Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you Simon that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

Pondering Point

Previously we used this as a teaching on prayer. Now we use the prayer itself. Using Jesus as our model, we pray for others over whom we have concerns:

Lord, I am praying for __________, that their faith may not fail,
and that (he/she/they) will soon be able to strengthen others
because of this experience. Amen.

Review the Week

This review is not about you personally but about those God has placed on your heart. These are the ones to pray for suggested above. Family may come to mind, friends… who else? Ask God and lift each one up in the language of the above prayer.

Repent (if necessary)

Repent means changing one’s heart, attitude, or direction. You may be hoping for such a change to occur in those for whom you’re praying. You might need to repent of not already praying for those God put on your heart.

Return (as necessary)

Mentally picture the people you’re praying for being present with God/Jesus and gaining wisdom and insight from Him. You are also encouraged to picture yourself receiving the same blessing from God. This imagining or picturing people with God can be a wonderful form of prayer. Find out if it suits you.

Prayer

Father, into your hands I commit my spirit. I ask you to build an unwavering faith in me that parallels the trust I see Jesus having in you. I bring these specific things before you now… (list what came to mind during devotions)… In Jesus’ name. Amen.

2 Corinthians
5:18-21

18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
