God's Gospel Truths

Matthew 9:35-38

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Pondering Point

Read Matthew 9:35-38. Does the reading sound familiar? We read through it last week too!

We are revisiting the passage where we see Jesus' compassion driving Him in life. In fact, Jesus' compassion is driving Him to shape His own disciples into prayer people who are mindful of the harvest-field. As He pointed out another time: "Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest" (John 4:35).

Prayer

Lord Jesus, open my eyes and shape my heart to be like Yours. No matter what I say or do, let me do it in mind of You. In Your name I pray. Amen.
