Wellspring of Joy
John 1:12-13
To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will but born of God.
Pondering Point
Today’s blessing is a reminder that God gives us the right to become his children. This is not due to our efforts, nor the efforts of/or association with our parents. No one else can want it badly enough to make it ours. Being a child of God, and all the rights and privileges that go along with that title, are simply a gift that is ours, received through faith in Jesus as Lord.
Prayer
Father God, I believe in Jesus as my Lord, as Your Only-begotten Son, and am grateful to receive the gift – the right – of becoming your child. Thank You Father! Thank You Jesus! Thank You Holy Spirit! I love You! Amen.
The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry
Sabbath – just like an animal or human being – has the life-giving capacity to procreate. To fill the world up with more life. Life is tiring. (Case in point, most likely you read that line and sighed...) You get to the end of the week, and even if you love your job, you're still worn down on every level – emotionally, even spiritually. The Sabbath is how we fill our souls back up with life.
