Colossians 4:2-3

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.

Pondering Point

Devotees can be another word for fanatics – or “fans” for short. Sports fans constantly pay attention to news of their team -- and relish victories, especially championships (just ask any fan). Put a few of those fans together and it can become quite rabid. People devoted to prayer will find many things to pray over if they are watchful. And as Paul says, they will also find many things to be thankful for. Let’s review our devotion to prayer, seeing what kind of Spiritual Pray-ers we are:

Review

Are you persistent in prayer? What do you pray about? Do you watch for things to pray about – both from time with God in devotions and as you go about life’s way? Are you thankful in prayer? Do you pray for open doors that God’s message will be heard in the lives of others?

Repent if necessary...

of any less-than-persistent place for prayer in your life. You may need to repent of being thankless about things or thoughtless about the ministry and message of God.

Return as necessary
